The Conversation Relay Visits the Homeless Association

Today our nationwide Conversation Relay listened to the voices of the homeless when we visited the Organisation SAND. Homelessness is one of the most visible yet silenced social issues of our time. Around the world, millions of individuals live without stable housing.

We discussed many things – among others:

– how can we improve trust in authority and society – as trust is a prerequisite for democratic participation
– how can we create greater equality and respect for people in vulnerable situations
– how can media convey the diversity and nuances of homelessness
– how to create relatable, relevant and representative news content
– how can we reduce barriers for homeless people in accessing credible and relevant information

By including the homeless voice in public debates, media, and policymaking, society must uphold the principle that everyone is entitled to dignity, respect, and a say in their future.

A big thanks to Morten, Jette, Sussi and Claus for sharing advice and experiences and to Sofie Bay-Petersen and Ask Svejstrup Laurberg for having us.
