Columbia Journalism Review – DPCMO

In a collaboration between CJR and the University of Southern California’s AI for Media and Storytelling Initiative, Mike Ananny and Matt Pearce have asked a diverse group of reporters, editors, executives, and others across the news industry this question. A lot to learn from great people.

In DPCMO’s contribution we highlight how a plurality of editorial voices fosters trust and strengthens information resilience. That a diverse range of news content promotes social cohesion and encourages public engagement. In the age of AI, it is more important than ever for news providers to uphold accuracy and impartiality — and to protect both press freedom and (editorial) sovereignty.
