As Gormsen states: Facebook has abused its market dominance to strike unfair bargain with users. In a free and fair market, competition should lead to lower prices and increased quality. But the bigger a company is in the market, the less choice we have. Facebook has exploited its dominance at its users’ cost.
The abuse continues; Meta is now training its AI models on adults’ personal content as posts and pictures – and DPCMO repertoire even though we have reserved our rights.
With EU’s Consumer Agenda 2025-30 and the forthcoming Digital Fairness Act the time is now for Denmark and other countries to follow suit and initiate class action lawsuits. National consumer councils and consumer ombudsmen could take the lead. We will be happy to contribute.
