Today the CJEU notes that the right of press publishers to fair remuneration is permissible and that platforms are obliged to provide the data necessary for calculating the remuneration as only platform providers possess the information enabling the economic value of the online use to be assessed.

The Court also notes that the platforms obligations serve to strike a fair balance between the freedom to conduct business and the right to intellectual property as well as the right to freedom and pluralism of the media.
