Unity is the answer to tech’s conquer and divide strategy

Tech giants and fast-growing AI companies are undermining the foundations of free media and independent journalism. Private companies can influence democratic processes. It's an interference that is fuelling divisiveness and discord among the people. We need to work together to ensure that people have access to credible, independent editorial media. Collaboration can be complicated and take time, but it's imperative when working with the tech giants. And that's why Danish media and journalists unite against the tech giants and AI companies. Collaboration is at the heart of DPCMO.

Poland has just taken over the EU Presidency. It will be Denmark’s turn in six months and then Cyprus. The three countries announced their 18-month programme in December 2024. Together, the trio will fight to ensure a free and pluralistic press, combat disinformation and ensure big tech takes responsibility. Cultural diversity and the creative industries play a crucial role in our democracy and European values.

We look forward to contributing solutions. And we want to work together with everyone on this important and difficult task, which will only succeed if we all pull together. A strong and free press is not only dependent on credible media, but on citizen involvement, inclusion and engagement. Words are not enough. It’s time for action.
